She says \"We need to work on the trauma inflicted upon us by the TransAtlantic Slave Trade. We need to work on releasing the bonds and responsibilities which have been placed on us since we left the shores of Africa. The post traumatic stress disorder related to this enterprise has placed many black women in fight or flight mode.

\" Dr. Brimm invites Black women to adopt mindfulness and yoga as a means of staying present in their experience. She encourages them to find a practice that will allow them to release the horrors of the past, while feeling at peace about the future.
